NSC Recognized for High Productivity Results at CURT National Conference
National Steel City, LLC was recognized and complimented on its High Productivity Results at the 2011 Annual CURT National Conference, held November 8th in Chandler, Arizona. Session Leader Eddie Clayton, the Planned Outage and Labor Manager for Southern Company Generation, reported the results during his presentation "Best Practices and Recommendations to Optimize Labor Productivity: Southern Company Case Studies and Measurable Results Regardless of Labor Posture."
In his discussion of the methodology that Southern Company uses to measure and improve productivity on construction projects, Clayton revealed that NSC was recognized as the "Most Productive Mechanical Contractor Ever Measured" over the many years and countless projects where Southern Company has conducted productivity studies.
Mr. Clayton referred specifically to the work that NSC performed for Southern Company on Unit No. 6 at Plant McDonough. NSC performed heavy haul, HRSG installation, structural steel erection, and large-bore pipe setting on the site from April 2010 through July 2011.
NSC's CEO Bob Dunn observed, "This is quite an honor for us. I am very proud of our team on the site. This shows that when you do the right things day in and day out, you get the proper results. A further conclusion of the study found that NSC's work was a "textbook example" of highest productivity resulting from a well-led and highly motivated project team.
