Awards & Recognition

We are proud to announce that the Construction Users Roundtable (CURT) has awarded National Steel City a Safety Excellence Constructor Award for our 2025 efforts!

This is the eighth safety award NSC has earned since 2020, and the 22nd Safety Award in the last 20 years.

SAWHORSE - Safety At Work Home Office Recreation Safety Everywhere - is NSC’s proprietary and award-winning safety program. It is the foundation of the safety culture for the company and every employee. As a result, NSC maintains one of the lowest Recordable Incident Rates (0.64 in 2024) and an EMR of 0.54, far outperforming industry averages. The AISC’s annual audit has found no issues for the past four years. NSC also has one of the industry’s lowest DART rates, an OSH Recordable Incident Rate that is five times lower than the industry average.

We thank CURT for their recognition of our safety efforts and are proud that National Steel City is a model safety system that not only protects its team but also elevates industry standards.

A Deeper Dive into NSC Safety...

Our safety management includes Project Hazard Analysis and Job Safety Analysis to identify and mitigate risks before work begins. Our Safety Analytics for Evaluation system tracks incidents, near-misses, and behavioral observations to analyze data by trade, shift, and crew size to reveal trends and implement corrective actions. These analytics are reviewed weekly by the executive team, ensuring that lessons learned drive measurable improvement.

Our Event Learning Process transforms incidents into educational opportunities by analyzing systemic causes rather than assigning blame - an approach that has improved communication, refined policies, and enhanced hazard recognition across projects.NSC’s Stop Work Authority gives every employee the obligation and confidence to halt unsafe operations and contribute to continuous improvement.

Also, every project has at least one dedicated safety professional, with additional managers added as workforce levels increase.Complemented by mental health and suicide prevention programs, the SAWHORSE culture, data-driven analytics, and employee engagement, we believe NSC’s clients are the ultimate beneficiary from our comprehensive commitment to workforce well-being.
